The Grand Tour needs a new driver to put cars through their paces on track, so Mark Webber ‘auditioned’ for the job

The second series of The Grand Tour is coming soon, but has ditched former Nascar driver Mike Skinner (aka ‘The American’) from its track tests.

So, with a replacement needed, Clarkson, Hammond, and May ‘auditioned’ someone reasonably well known – former F1 driver, WEC champion, and Helmut Marko’s best friend, Mark Webber.

Mark took a Porsche 911 GT2 RS and a Mercedes-AMG GT R around the ‘Eboladrome’ circuit. Given his role as a Porsche ambassador and the fact he’s logged a few air miles in a Mercedes in the past (and also because this is The Grand Tour) it’s not as straightforward as a couple of hot laps.
