LEWIS HAMILTON has hinted Ferrari got too close for comfort in the battle for Formula One supremacy this season.

The 32-year-old wrapped up the fourth World Drivers’ Championship of his racing career at Mexico City’s Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez four weeks ago.

And that was the third title he’s won since joining Mercedes from McLaren ahead of the 2013 F1 campaign.

Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel was Hamilton’s closest rival in the race to secure the championship this year.

And Hamilton has admitted the Italian constructors pushed Mercedes as he gears up for Sunday’s season-ending grand prix at Abu Dhabi’s Yas Marina Circuit.

Hamilton has an unassailable 43-point lead over Vettel in the F1 drivers’ standings.

And he’ll be hoping to extend that further at this weekend’s race.

Practice sessions for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix begin tomorrow.
