Robert Kubica will drive in 2018 for the Williams Formula 1 team. Sources close to the Pool have told RTL GP that the driver has signed a two-year contract with the British racing team. Monday was announced in RTL GP’s online motorsport program Slipstream.

Kubica was already active in Formula 1 from 2007 to 2010 and was considered one of the greatest talents in the king’s class until, at the beginning of 2011, he was seriously injured in a rally accident. The Pole suffered permanent injuries on his right arm, which forced him to put a stop behind his F1 career.

After the crash, Kubica remained active in motorsport and participated in a number of rallies. After he made his comeback on the circuits last year, this year there was another chance for a F1-return from the Pool. The single Grand Prix winner was allowed to test a day for Renault’s F1 team, where he was able to make so much impression that he could also test with a 2017 car in Hungary.

A deal with Renault eventually ended with the arrival of Carlos Sainz, but the Pool then came into the picture with the team of Williams as successor to Felipe Massa, who after this season says goodbye to Formula 1. After two successful test days with the Williams FW36 gold Kubica together with reserve driver Paul di Resta as one of the big candidates for a Williams race seat in 2018. RTL GP can report that the team has preferred Kubica, and that the driver has signed a two year contract with the team from Grove. For example, Allard Kalff and Kees van de Grint announced Monday in RTL GP’s online motorsport program Slipstream.

The 32-year-old Kubica will form a team next year with Lance Stroll, the young Canadian who made his debut in Formula 1 this year. Most likely, Kubica will be in action for the Williams team next week during the end-of-year test in Abu Dhabi.
