Hamilton: I felt that synergy today

Hamilton: I felt that synergy todayLewis Hamilton said that the Mercedes team showed its true force today at the Spanish Grand Prix. Hamilton dominated the race from lights to flag to take the victory. Finishing over 20 seconds ahead of his Mercedes team-mate Valtteri Bottas who gave the team a 1-2 finish.

Hamilton took his second consecutive victory in an emphatic style completely in control. As a result the four-time world champion extends his lead in the championship to 17 points over rival Sebastian Vettel, stating he felt “that synergy” between him and the car.

“Today the car and myself, I felt that synergy today, which I hadn’t been feeling for the whole year. It’s a good feeling,” Hamilton said. “I couldn’t have done it without this incredible team. These guys have done an amazing job. I’m just really proud of everyone.

Mercedes have also taken over Ferrari in the constructor’s championship, leading their rivals by 27 points. Hamilton is hoping that Mercedes will keep up its Barcelona winning form and continue to apply pressure.

“This is when we’re going to start trying to continue to apply the pressure. A one-two for the team, we’ve got our Mercedes board with us who have been supporting us from day one, so it’s great to have them here and just see that true force within the team. Strength in depth. I hope it can continue.”
